J. Stephen Wirthlin
Attorney
J. Stephen Wirthlin was admitted to practice law in 1979. He is a graduate of The Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University (1979) and the University of Cincinnati (B.A. 1975). As a law student, Steve served as the law clerk for Judge Harry T. Klusmeier. Steve has served for over a decade as an adjunct faculty member at Chase, teaching both the Pretrial Litigation and Trial Advocacy courses. He has also been a guest lecturer at the College of Law on Ohio Workers’ Compensation. Steve concentrates his practice in the area of workers’ compensation, including intentional tort and VSSR applications. He and his wife, Sherrie, reside in Union Township with their two children.
Michael F. Wirthlin

Michael F. Wirthlin was admitted to practice law in 1982. He is a 1982 graduate of The Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. Mike received his A.A. from the University of Cincinnati in 1977 and his B.A. in 1979. As a law student, Mike served as a clerk in the Hamilton County Municipal Court and then served as the law clerk for Judge Thomas H. Nurre until 1982. Mike was on the Board of Trustees of the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati for over a decade and served as its president in 2000-2001. Mike concentrates his practice in the areas of workers’ compensation, Social Security, and estate/probate issues. He and his wife, Janet, reside in Western Hills along with their three children.
James A. Grant

James A. "Jay" Grant received his B.A. from Hanover College in 1981 before attending The Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. While attending law school, Jay served as law clerk for Judge Ralph Winkler. After his admission into the practice of law in 1985, Jay was an assistant prosecuting attorney in the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office, where he prosecuted a wide variety of cases from misdemeanors to serious felonies. Jay concentrates his practice in civil litigation both at the trial and appellate levels and focuses on the areas of personal injury, workers’ compensation, and intentional tort litigation. Jay and his wife, Nancy, reside in Loveland, Ohio with their two children.
Michael J. Schutte

Michael J. Schutte was admitted to practice law in 1994 and is a graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law and the University of Cincinnati (B.A. 1991). Mike served as Associate Editor and Executive Text Editor of the University of Dayton Law Review. Mike’s experience includes acting as counsel for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee and insurance defense work. Mike currently represents employers in all phases of workers’ compensation matters, including administrative hearings before the Industrial Commission of Ohio and appeals at all levels of the Ohio court system. Mike’s practice also includes personal injury, wrongful death, and general civil litigation in various courts throughout Southwest Ohio. Mike lives in Bridgetown with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children.
Robert Lewis II

Robert “Bob” Lewis was admitted to practice law in Ohio in 2009 and was admitted to practice in Kentucky in 2011. He is a graduate of The Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University (2009) and of The Ohio University, at Athens (B.A. 2005). Bob was employed by the Hamilton Court of Common Pleas as a law student and was legal intern for the Honorable Judge Norbert A. Nadel. He concentrates his practice on civil litigation on both the defense and plaintiff’s side, including landlords tenant issues and personal injury. Bob resides in Walnut Hills.

Jennifer has been with Beirne & Wirthlin since 2008. Jennifer serves as the firm’s docketing coordinator, working closely with clients regarding scheduling hearings at various offices of the Industrial Commission. She also serves as the firm’s receptionist and legal assistant. Jennifer resides in Northern Kentucky with her son.
